Executive Assistant to Senior President

“I’m showing up prepared, I’m being heard, and I feel more visible in rooms where you have to be spot on. All thanks to Kapable.”
I am an Executive Assistant to the Senior President. When I moved into this role, I realised that doing good work wouldn’t be enough on its own. With presidents and directors, timing and reading the room decide whether things move or stall. I learned that the hard way when I tried a casual check-in with a director who’d just been called into a tense meeting. His abrupt answer said it all. It wasn’t about the question; it was about when to speak and what would help him in that moment.
Before Kapable, I presented to a senior president and he couldn’t follow my slide. He asked a colleague to explain it to him. That bothered me tremendously. But now, because of Kapable, I know which points to hit and in what order so the other person can track me without effort. I haven’t gone around collecting feedback, but I can feel the change: I’m more confident, I take more risks, and people stay with what I’m saying.
That’s why I joined Kapable. I wanted to build presence for myself, not by being louder, but by being clearer. In the one-on-one sessions, nothing felt generic. The trainer would start with a concept, then shape it around me, jotting what was working, what wasn’t, and giving live feedback. In one session, we sat in silence for about thirty seconds, no introductions, just the two of us until I initiated. The point was simple: connect first and take initiative under pressure. It stayed with me.
The biggest change came from simple tools used properly. Mind maps have become second nature to me. Fifteen minutes before a meeting, I sit down, lay it out, and I’m ready, I know what to say and when to say it. The CARE framework helped me structure answers so people could follow without asking twice. Once I started actually using this strategy in real life, I could clearly make out differences in my discussions, especially in high stakes situations. I had tried negotiating salary before the program and it didn’t land. Two months in, I got a second shot. This time I had every point mapped and sequenced, so whatever HR or the director threw at me, I had a clear response. I walked away with a really good deal.
Outside the sessions, I’ve kept the learning alive. At the end of each week, I ask myself what could have gone better, then I link those moments back to what we practised and how I’ll handle them next time. Learning about a skill is one thing; using it in the room is when it starts to stick. That’s what I’m building steadily, week by week, using the frameworks, trying new things, and reflecting so each week is a little sharper.
It’s taking better shape now. I’m showing up prepared, I’m being heard, and I feel more visible in rooms where you have to be spot on. All thanks to Kapable.
