“My colleagues noticed the difference, and even my boss acknowledged the improvement. They mentioned that there was a big change in how I presented myself, which made me feel more confident and assured that I was deriving value from the experience. I can now say that I have significantly improved my presentation skills, and I feel much more prepared and confident in business settings. More importantly, I have developed a certain level of confidence in myself when it comes to public speaking.”
I actually suffered from a lack of confidence during my presentations. While I felt comfortable with product presentations, I would become nervous when it came to business reviews, proposal presentations, or any situation where I had to present to a senior audience. Sometimes, I felt like I didn’t have enough content to present, and I struggled with many pauses in between. I also faced difficulties structuring my thoughts properly, and whenever I went into a meeting, I wasn’t prepared, or I couldn’t frame the context effectively. This led to a lack of confidence and hesitation, which made me feel inadequate during important presentations.
When I initially joined the program, I was very nervous about attending the sessions. But after around three to four individual sessions, I felt more confident and was able to apply many of the techniques taught during the sessions. The exercises performed during the sessions also really helped. I learnt a range of techniques that helped me address these challenges. One of the most helpful techniques I learned was the CARE framework, which I now frequently use to structure my presentations. It helps me organise my thoughts clearly and communicate effectively. Another tool that made a significant impact was mind mapping. Whenever I’m in a meeting or faced with unexpected questions, mind mapping helps me think on my feet and frame my responses quickly and coherently. Additionally, the Ethos, Pathos, and Logos framework was extremely beneficial. It provided me with a structured way to establish credibility, appeal emotionally, and use logical arguments in my conversations, making my presentations more persuasive and impactful.
There was a particular instance during one of my business review meetings when I was able to put these techniques into practice. I applied the CARE framework to structure my points, used mind mapping to tackle unexpected questions, and incorporated Ethos, Pathos, and Logos to strengthen my arguments. My colleagues noticed the difference, and even my boss acknowledged the improvement. They mentioned that there was a big change in how I presented myself, which made me feel more confident and assured that I was deriving value from the experience. I can now say that I have significantly improved my presentation skills, and I feel much more prepared and confident in business settings. More importantly, I have developed a certain level of confidence in myself when it comes to public speaking.
