Coming from a product management background, my main challenges revolved around being more articulate and structured in conversations and being persuasive in my communication. These were areas I always wanted to improve and constantly sought ways to do so.

When I came across Kapable, I found opportunities not just to learn frameworks but also to put them into practice. This was what really intrigued me. I particularly enjoyed the sessions on sprint speeches, which were very engaging as they allowed me to practice quick thinking while speaking—another area I wanted to focus on. The session on Monroe’s Motivated Sequence was also incredibly helpful for learning how to better engage my audience and give more structure to my presentations. Further, the Six Thinking Hats session was also very useful, as it helped me think multi-dimensionally about critical decisions, even from an emotional angle.

The TED Talk session constantly reminds me of the importance of starting with stories or surprising facts and connecting with the audience on an emotional level. I used to focus solely on my content without considering the delivery aspect, but now I also think about how I can deliver better. The frameworks I learned have helped me immensely.

In my profession, I work with schools where there are multiple decision-makers, including school owners, principals, students, and parents. I have been working on several pitch decks, and now, whenever I create one, I begin by thinking about how I can simplify it for the listener based on their skill level. I also think about how the content can be improved through storytelling. These aspects have also given me a lot of perspective on considering the person who is actually delivering the presentation I create. I now consider how I can simplify the content so that another person can deliver the same presentation effectively and invoke the same feelings or emotions. Through the framworks I learn, I am able to place adequate focus on both delivery and content. This shift in perspective has been a major change for me.
